a brief rant

i guess i should have gone to tsa.gov before i flew this past week, but i didn't even think about it. now that liquids are the new weapon of choice among top terrorists, the terrorist screening process is MUCH more difficult. mainly because anyone with a half drank bottle of aquafina is a potential threat to our national security. the lady at the airport was quick to inform us that allyson should have packed her cosmetics in a CLEAR QUART SIZED ZIP LOCK BAG, and liquids or gels can only be 3 ozs or less (as shown above). we all know that terrorist plans are rendered useless with such a negligible amount of liquid, and so it was our fault for thinking we could take 3.2 ozs. so if for some reason you want to be excessive and take an 8 oz bottle of sunscreen, better pack it in the suitcase. while i speak very sarcastically about this, i do think it's all very silly. first of all, there never was a terrorist attack involving liquids. there was an attempt that was apparently thwarted at the last minute, and it also was going to involve an mp3 player or cell phone to initiate the exposion. so why haven't we banned ipods and cell phones too? well, at least now terrorists can't take water or a big tube of crest on planes. i feel so much safer now. how many years have we flown with people taking on whatever the heck we want? do we honestly think they would try the exact same thing again after being preemptively"caught" with it? i think that's being pretty naive and presumptuous. i guess what i'm saying is we aren't any safer since liquids were "partially" banned, and to think we are is ridiculous. it's a nice way of the tsa giving the illusion of increased safety and the government giving themselves a public pat on the back. make sure and check tsa.gov for the latest news and happenings regarding your next vacation.
