so last night i saw v for vendetta for the first time. i knew a little bit about the film going in, but not a ton. i have no background in the comics. i came to the conclusion after the film, that if michael moore was going to start making action films, this would have been his directorial debut. i had a weird feeling about the film throughout, and couldn't quite place it until the end. the reason i was uncomfortable was beacause the message was being SHOVED down my throat. at least in fahrenheit 911 i expected the typical moore rhetoric. now don't get me wrong, every film has a message, and is pushing it in some way or another. they're just not typically parading it in front of the screen like a big juicy steak in front of a dog. i expected some government bashing, but not on this level. i also didn't expect the blatant pro homosexual, all priests are sexual predators, killing people IS the only way mantra for 2 hours. oh yeah, it was too long. and wasn't this supposed to be an action movie? i felt like the majority of the time i was subjected to V's contradictory philisophical ramblings on truth and violence. natalie portman got really annoying. and the end action scene? i'm sorry, it was a rehashing of the matrix bank scene sans guns plus swords. hmm, wonder why that is. on a scale of 1 to 5, i give it a "meh". that means 2. and V, stop talkin' like ya got mush in ya mouth!

i watched it last night for the first time. i really couldn't take this guy seriously when he had that goofy smile on his face the entire time. and the message, "unity through anarchy", is self-defeating.
